Recipe: Lilo Loves Shepherd’s Pie

Shepherd's Pie

A few weeks ago as the weather turned colder a friend messaged me asking if it was cold enough for shepherd’s pie? I took the hint and invited her round for dinner.

My shepherd’s pie is so easy to make and is becoming legendary among friends.

  • mince (I know it should be lamb but I always use beef)
  • onions
  • veg to taste (this could be carrots, mushrooms, courgettes…)
  • garlic
  • oregano
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • tin of chopped tomatoes
  • encona hot pepper sauce
  • mash potatoes
Brown the onions and mince, add in everything else, cook for 2 hrs, add to oven proof dish, add mash potato, top with cheese and bake for 30mins.

Best served with any booze, veg and of course a huge amount of gravy.
