Recently I was lucky enough to spend two nights at Brocket Hall for a wedding. From beginning to end the visit was faultless with amazing grounds, food and exceptional staff.
The hall is very well maintained and available on an exclusive basis. Although on a grand scale the hall has a very homely feel. Guests are able to relax and enjoy all of the rooms, from dinner in the library, to a drinks reception in the saloon. We also got to experience dinner in the ballroom, with the ceiling painted by Francis Wheatley, this room cost half of the £3,000 cost of the original build in 1760. This amazing ceiling is now rumoured to be worth £50 million.
The hall and grounds are a must for anyone with an interest in English country houses and high quality French cuisine. Don’t worry, if you are unable to gain access to the hall due to the exclusive hire terms then you can get a little taste of luxury by dining at the Auberge du lac restaurant or experiencing the 18 hole golf course.
