Indian Tempest by William Shakespeare at The Globe London

If you follow the blog then you’d know how much I love The Globe, a summer in London just isn’t complete with at least a couple of visits. The GlobeThis time I was off to see Indian Tempest which was performed in English, French and several Indian languages. As usual the venue was packed, particularly in the pit as there was quite a large piece of set situated right in the middle so the excited groundlings quickly huddled round waiting to see the action.

It was a wonderful performance with a lot of activity taking place in the pit with characters coming and going and even splashing water on the groundlings at some points. This audience involvement was very exciting and made the already intimate venue seem even more so. I’ve never seen a performance at the globe with so much set design, but it worked and was enjoyable. The costume design and use of masks was also exciting and well thought out.

There are still some other shows on this summer so be sure to try to make a trip down there if you are in London, Bankside in the summer is simply glorious.
